hi

there are these 12a fast chargers beeing sold at aliexpress

they have the Charger Plug Adapter included.

But i brought the same charger 1/3 cheaper with the same configuration 60V 17S (Max 71,4V) for my original 60V 30ah Super Soco Battery here and the original super soco plug here

thinking i would only need to connect phase and neutral to the plug and be in fast charging heaven.

notice i also have the original factory charger plug which only has 2 cables and pins and which seems to work fine with the original charger.

to get to the point, it didnt work.

according to this the bms needs to activate the battery and charging, its the grey cable on the soco plug. ive tried to bridge it to neutral but it also didnt work. im a little hesitant to connect it to the phase wire and would like to be sure that this is even the problem.

ive contacted the seller of the charger plug adapter maybe he sells me one without the charger to take a look at what they did to make it work.

one last thing i could try without blowing up the bms is using the external plug of the soco itself.

it also only uses 2 wires but it is in line with the plug which has all pins connected to the controller and should activate the charing. but i have to wait for monday to try it.

Here is a picture

@downwind_lee what do you mean by phase wire. You should have a positive and negative from your battery and same from your charger. These need to be connected in the correct polarity. Also your battery will not charge at 12a. It’ll trip out trying to do that. Your max is probably 5a give or take.
only the original charger needs a signal to start charging (tc max does anyway) the battery will take charge from a third party charger without any start signal.

I try to add pictures but its not working, ill add them to gdrive.

Red & Brown are positive, the phase wire.

Black & Blue are negative, the neutral wire.

The soco battery plug has 6 Pins:

+ Red

- Black

2x Green Data

1x Brown Motor disable

1x Grey Charging Signal

The seller of the fastcharger told me the soco bms only allows for original charger.

There is a offical 10a charger beeing sold.

Unofficial ones goe up to 15a. I dont think 5a is max. How do you get the idea? Many people charge with higher current. Ive seen people talk about how even 30a could be possible.

When i was first doing research i came across something interesting. I was searching why i cannot view the voltage of the battery with my multimeter. Thats where i first got the hint that one pin has to be bridged to activate the bms and get a proper reading. But sadly i cant find it anymore.

@downwind_lee

my tc max battery will charge at a max of 10a. If I were to try 12a it would cut out as a protection. A tc battery I imagine is less as it’s a smaller battery. I couldn’t tell you exactly what amp rating it will cut out but I doubt it will take 12a.

the BMS on my tc max battery will allow any charge or discharge via the two big pins without anything else plugged in. But within the BMS discharge limit of 60a and charge limit of 10a. Maybe the tc battery BMS is set up differently to the max. Maybe due to that you can run two battery’s in the bike together it uses BMS switching to switch between your batteries

@lhk yes that may be the case.

The chargers amp can be regulated with the knob between 2 and 12a i believe. But even on the low settings the charger thinks the battery is full..
