Hi guys, just wondered if Super Soco batteries are affected by the cold ? I have a couple of electric cars which suffer much worse range in cold weather, however the heater plays a part in that, and obviously the bike doesn’t have that drain.

Can anyone comment if they see a noticably worse range in temperatures of 5c rather than 25c ?

thanks

Definitely. I don't have numbers but you can feel the difference if the battery has been in the house all night getting nice and warm (e.g. when you've charged it).
Solution - take the batter indoors whenever you can!

I bought my TC Max this time last year, and winter performance was a little bit disappointing. I was looking forwards to warm rides in the summer, but then .... :-/

Great, thanks for the info. The CPX seems on fir range so far, I got 36 miles before the first battery reached 2 bars and the second battery started. If I can ‘almost’ get the quotes range in winter (I’m a steady slow rider to be honest) then summer range.... or that with a warm battery should be great.

does charging really warm a battery more than just keeping it physically warm ? Probably both is best

Same here, cold has an influence, i'd say something like 10-15% more consumption around 0°C than 20°C, but it's difficult to give exact figures. Better to keep the battery home all night.

I was out last night, 6c, bike garaged, so batteries not warmed, finished my journey of 58 miles, with 18% left, both batteries showing the last 2 bars, and a power limit noticed a few miles from home.... its not much fun to ride like that, I could barely manage over 40mph on the flat.

all things considered... I'm impressed 🙂

now, carefully used.... will this bike last, we will see
