Is this due to the way the controller is programmed? Can it be re-mapped for more mid-range (or high-end) torque ? Or is it limited by the type of motor from Bosch?

I think the controller is limiting things. If you lift the rear wheel off the ground the bike's speedo reads over 50mph. Im sure the motor could handle 4000-5000w before it would overheat.

Sure its the controller. had a electric scooter with 3000 w motor and its was double as fast. Drove up a steep hill with my son at 60km/h . Bike 170kg, me 80kg ,my son, 60kg. There is room for improvement with a kelly controller i think. Even plenty of space in the battery compartement.

The performance of the engine could still be improved in the settings of the controller i think.

On the manufacturer's website ( https://www.goldenmotor.com/ ) is the software ( https://www.goldenmotor.com/controllers/PI-800.rar ) and the appropriate controller programming cable ( https://www.goldenmotor.com/eMotorcycle/frame-emotor.htm   lower area).

Hey. Have anyone confirmed that these controllers Are the same as the ones in the soco , because ut looks like they Are exactly the same as the lingbo controller. If this is the case i am willing to try the programming cable and try a software tweak.

With my diy second battery I have a current meter so I know more info about the bike.

In mode 3, it pulls 40amps all the time until it hits 48mph (going down hill) then starts reducing power. The controller must be limited with power & speed.

Id like to start either changing the controller settings or fitting a kelly controller. No idea how to connect the bosch motor to the kelly controller though atm.

Im also thinking that the Soco controller must be good for higher amps because the temp gauge never goes about 1 bar even in the summer. Could be barking up the wrong tree though!

I have just found this table in the 'Motor Controller Guide' ( https://www.goldenmotor.com/controllers/GoldenMotor%20FOC%20Motor%20Controller%20Guide.pdf).
I think it's the 'VEC300-72'.

@tomp: interesting. 48 mph on the TC speed meter or did you measure it with GPS? 48 mph on the speed meter = 42.1 mph GPS = 67.7 km/h GPS. On my power plot you can see that at GPS 63 km/h the motor still has full power, but at GPS 70 km/h (going downhill a 5.5% slope) it has no power at all any more.

By the way, I changed my tires to Michelin Street Pilot and I am now 3 km/h (GPS) - 4 km/h (TC) faster around 40 km/h. My recommendation changing the tires to cut to 1/2 the wheel drag, and they are safer in rain! And the acceleration feels stronger.

@escubic I’m just going by the TC speedo. It’s not very accurate but I know at some point going down hill, the controller shuts off the power. I wonder why? Too much amps?

hmmm so you say it’s very much worth changing the original tyres?

Any updates on programming the controller? I have seen multiple threads on this forum about performance enhancements but all of them seem to have ended up dead...

I also saw that the SOCO TC MAX uses the same controller as the one in the TC... On their Chinese website they even use the same images, the same text with both models...
