Hi, I'm planning to buy a Super Soco TC but I had some doubts about the battery drain and the top speed when going through a steep hill.

I live in a mountain and this information is crucial for me.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @xRadikal: I am using my TC on very steep hills (in fact, La Palma is the steepest island in the world). You lose 1 km of range every 75 m uphill (depends on your body weight) and you get back 1 km of range every 85 m downhill or so. It's surprising that you get so much back when downhilling even without regen. It is not 100% exact rocket science but these numbers work for me.

My range in hilly terrain is about 86 km with 2 batteries (unrestricted, always at max speed). The range increases somewhat if you always go unrestricted in mode 1 (about 40 km/h), maybe 100 km with 2 batteries @ 40 km/h but this speed is not practical. Rule of thumb: One battery is good for 1 hour of drive.

You should know that the uphill performance of the TC is quite weak, expect 45 km/h @ 5% slope, 30 km/h @ 10%, 20 km/h @ 15%, 10 km/h @ 20%.

In this diagram you can see in pink the slope which you can drive at a given speed (speed in km/h, increases from left to right - max slope for that speed in pink, expressed in %).

O.M.G. 1km Of range every 75m is absolutely insane. So to do 10km uphill I would need 133km of flat range? Incredible.

The performance is also highly damaged... I would surely try it out before buying one.

So you can do 86km fully uphill with two batteries? That's not so bad...

Thanks a lot for the information

I mean 75 m of height, not distance. For example, if your street is 10% steep it gains 75m of height every 750m of length. If your street is 5% steep it gains 75m of height every 1500m of length.

Real world streets in mountains have less than 10% of slope. You can use Google maps in bicycle mode if you want to determine how much uphill or downhill your route has.

@escubic Hello 🙂 Do you have any issues with overheating, when driving in unrrstricted and max mode fex?

Any other issues so far?

Take an example. You want to go in La Palma onto the highest mountain, and you start at the beach. The highest mountain is about 2400 m high, so you must subtract 2400 m / 75 m/km = 32 km from your range.

The distance from the beach to the mountain is 40 km, and your total range of your TC with 2 batteries is 86 km. You must subtract 32 km from this range because of the uphill penalty, that gives you 54 km range only uphill. Since the road is 40 km between the beach and the mountain, you can reach the highest mountain with your TC (2 batteries).

Ooooh okay I see. That's not so bad! Actually it's pretty decent.

Thank you very much for helping me out.

Have a nice day
