Hello! I did a dumb thing. I removed the battery terminal to see if the wires had any heat/fire damage (the other battery did... another story). As I pulled it out, the data cable snapped off the BMS circuit board! 😱
So, I took the battery out of its case (carefully!) and soldered the leads back into place. It was obvious where it had snapped off from: a 6-pin header with only 3 pins used: black, blue, purple. It looked fine, so I reassembled it.
When I start up the bike on this battery, it shows 0%! I'm trying to think of what went wrong.
Did I...
- ...solder the leads on in the wrong order? I was pretty careful to do black, blue, purple (left to right).
- ...damage the BMS with heat from the soldering iron? Again, I thought I was careful.
- ...brick my battery? 😨
This is the third major battery problem I've had in only half a year of almost daily use. I am not especially happy with this bike.
So... I heard somewhere that the BMS module can be reset. I want to try this. How do you reset the BMS?
3 Times? Bad luck I think? Probably wrong cable order... Hehehe you should ask someone for a photo... didn't open mine yet and don’t want to as long if it’s still under warenty I assume the blue and the purple ones are the rx and the tx. It maybe twisted. But I’m not shure you should others to confirm that.
Edit found a photo of the bms on google its purple blue black
I hope that this helps.
You prob. soldered the wires wrong
Thanks very much for those photos. Yes, I soldered the wires wrong. I'm an idiot! 🤣 It all works now.
Interesting note: My BMS was mounted upside down in the battery case when I opened it up. I wonder why.
