Hi guys! I just receive my new 20A charger, but when I connect it, the light starts in yellow but then after a sec it changes to green. I am wondering if the battery does not support 20A or what is happening? Also, I have a 10A charger from the same manufacturer and it works great.

Does anyone tried to charge it with a 20A charger?

Thanks!!

I am very interested in fast charging. Where did you order the charger from?
Do you have a 2020 TC max with the 3.9kW motor?

I’ve got the 2020 model and checked the controller today:

 Basically confirmed the 80A version.
Thanks,

Thomas

Hi Thomas!
I am not sure if it is 2020 model, I bought it this year but you never know.
I bought it from Aliexpress, search for 'YZPOWER 84V 20A 19A 18A 17A 16A Battery Lithium Lion Charger for 72V Battery'.

If you have instructions of how to get at that part of the bike it will be a pleasure to find out which model I have.
Thanks!

I’ve removed the left side panel with 3 screws. And then the left bottom panel with another 3 screws. Fairly straight forward, but the bottom one you need to slightly pull the top out after you’ve removed the screws and then slide the bottom backwards 1cm. The PDFs are helpful but only partially in english.
The controller sits under the battery box (outside).

I saw that you got the XT60 connector. Do you connect it directly to the bike? What about the other four wires that are part of the charging socket?

@newzeroauckland Sorry mate! I was really busy.
I connect it directly to the battery, I have an adapter XT60 to Battery Socket (dont know the name of the plug). I didn't try to connect it in the side of the bike, would that change anything?

@hdamico Thanks for the reply. I’m taking a gamble, I’ve ordered the 15A version of the charger with the XT60 connector as well. My brother recommends to monitor the temperature of the battery while charging. Takes about 2 weeks if I’m lucky enough to get the charger here.

@drift My conclusion was 12A is working, 15A didn’t.

I’ve ordered from Aliexpress

@newzeroauckland Ah ok, thanks for the info. Must be the BMS. It seems quite strict on it's specification. I can't even put a load on the battery without the BMS cutting power. Other than the bike itself obviously. I've been using a 10A charger which seems ok but wondered if you could push it to 15A... Obviously not. Appreciate your input. Cheers.

@newzeroauckland It seems to be the BMS that not support 20A

I've been using the 10 amp one from these guys for some months. Even it won't balance at top end. It stops at 99% and the light never goes green. So I always use it when out and about and use factory 5 amp at home to balance charge batteries. I've had no heat problems with 10 amp unit

@18650wheels I would be interrested to know how you manage to plug it on the bike.  My battery has 7 pins and I am not sure if I can just use the + and -

@simon_duguay Yes, we are using the XT60 connector that's under the seat. I'm also using the the slower 7 pin connector factory charger frequently so the battery is 'balanced'.
