Hello everyone from Russia! I apologize in advance, because I use Google translate.

Question about the built-in charging port in a motorcycle. Why is it needed? And can it be used to charge a motorcycle without removing a battery from it?
Inside the tank of the motorcycle I have only 1 orange electric wire and nothing else.

I also have a question on charging itself. My local dealer sold me for an extra $ 150 “super fast charge”, which should charge the motorcycle in 4 hours, instead of 8. My question is: is this really a special charge and is it faster than usual? Or did he cheat on me for $ 150 and sell me a standard charge, which should therefore be bundled with a motorcycle?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

You are lucky. 🙂 Yes, this is faster charger. I got 5Amps as 10Amps were not avaiable when I got it. How faster is it? You can use stopper and measure. 🙂 Please share result.

Yes - you can and should use side connector for charging. Not to uplug ornage cable. Some people report orange cable in some cases breakes up to wrong materials used for it in factory. So side connector is more safe.

Moreover I keep my charger installed permamently on plastic shelf under "tank" cover over battery. It fits great and I always have it with me on board if needed. If you use side connector - you do not need to remove unit and shelf for charging - just cables.

Now winter has almost come in Moscow and next week it will already be minus 1 degree centigrade on the street. After I bought the bike, I was able to drive it from the motorcycle store to the house. (Approximately 30 km). I have used my tc max only 1 time since the purchase.

Therefore, I discharged the battery to 50% and take it to a warm apartment to safely store it in the winter.

So I can only give charging speed tests in the spring of 2020. I'm sorry.

Despite the fact that you said that I can charge the bike through this external charging port, people on the forum in Russia say that it is not designed for such a high voltage and can melt and catch fire. It also scares me that the English manual does not say anything about this method of charging. The instructions ask you to get the battery out of the motorcycle.

I do not know what to do. I do not want to conduct an experiment on my own motorcycle.

By the way, if this is interesting to someone, a bike in Russia in Moscow costs $ 4,100. And we do not have any subsidies or benefits for the purchase of electric vehicles.

But!

We consider these motorcycles to be bicycles and therefore they do not need state license plates and do not need to pay taxes, as well as such a motorcycle does not need insurance and it is invisible to speed cameras.

It says at the bottom of that page in the manual "It is also possible to charge the motorcycle by plugging the charger lead into the side of the motorcycle while the battery is connected internally". The dealer should have removed the black cable and connected the other wire under the seat for this to work.

So, yes, you can charge the Super Soco TC Max using the side charging port without having to remove the battery. I do it with mine but I have got the slower charger.

I do confirm. I charge my almost every night using side connector.

It is not high voltaage - onplug you connect to your battery or side connector. ;-]]] It is 82V DC @ 10A as written on your charger label. Common agreement is that all up to 120V is mostly safe. This is why e-motorcycles use batteries up to 120V. And TCmax uses 72V battery and 82V chaarger - so much lower than save.
