@FCFanboy: Mine is fairly inaudible over the wind noise, except when its been rained on. It then sounds like several wailing banshees!

@mrj: I live just outside Southampton. I got mine from Southsea last July. Wouldnt that have been closer than Dorchester?

Yep. That dealer is also my closest. I contacted them a few times. They didn't have one in the showroom then, and kept saying they'd get back to me but didn't. Shame, as I'd have liked to go local. DC was the first to suggest testing an Evo3, and they had 2 Maxes in the showroom (unregistered), so they got the sale. I might use Southsea for parts etc. as they are close. Maybe not within a there-and-back ride range though!

Yeah. Tell me about it. I had to ride it back to work (Fordingbridge) from Southsea on the day I picked it up, on 88%. The trip is 45 miles, mainly motorway!

Got to work on 0%. lol That was an adventure. Have had plenty more with my trusty steed since.  🙂

I bet that was an interesting ride back to work. Much range anxiety?

Mine must be the odd one out then. Not complaining as I love the noises it makes.

I'm thinking of making an rear facing action cam mount to replace the right pillion peg bracket. This will put the camera just behind and above the motor so I can capture the noise properly. Hopefully it'll sound a bit like this https://twitter.com/aminorjourney/status/1185565784606556162

It wasnt too bad; once I got off the motorway, I cranked it down to setting 1/2 and just shrugged when all the angry cars were overtaking me! lol

Even then, it shut off at ~10%, I thought my chips were up as I was about 10 miles away from work. It just needed turning on again though. (I think this is the mechanism that stops it being started on too low charge).

That vid sounds cool. The beginning sounds like one of those sand people from star wars. lol

Fordingbrige - that's a nice long ride. At least you've got the scenery if you have to pootle in mode 1. But "Motorway"? Really?!!! Blimey (even with the 50 limit).

I got home once with 2 miles to go. At 10% the display flashes, and it certainly didn't do mode 3. It might even have automatically dropped to mode 1. I couldn't tell as it was rush hour traffic and I couldn't go any faster!

A tad anxious, but I when you're close to home you really know exactly how far it is, where to park if you have to walk etc.

OTSO noise, mine just makes a whir/whine from the belt teeth - its the same on or off the throttle. So hardly any noise from the motor. Not a nice whine like that vid 🙁

Yeah, it wasnt so bad. I guess being a new battery helped. I was able to keep 55-60mph from Portsmouth, keeping behind lorries in the slow lane, then like you say, the 50mph limit from j9-4.

I dont really get anxious, because after that, I never rode it to the range limit again. I take my PSU to work with me and charge it there so I dont have to worry about range (~26 miles each way) and I dont bother wearing the mode switch out either; it stays on 3! lol

Hey everyone,

on the noise front, I feel like my bike has always made an extra noise (a rumble/rattle) when I accelerate past a certain point or accelerate too quickly. Then, when the acceleration meets the speed that I need, the noise ceases. It doesn’t happen if I accelerate slowly, but sometimes you just need to go (junctions, roundabouts, meeting the speed on the road you’re in, etc). I’m not not one to be racing around and accelerating more than what I think would be deemed normal.
In the beginning I thought ‘oh I guess it must be because it’s new…’ but it still does it. I haven’t contacted the dealership about it because they are quite a while away and I’m not sure the bike would get there in this weather.
has anyone else experienced a noise like that as well? Because the Demo bike I tried out didn’t make that noise :s

cheers!
