Jumpy throttle

Hello,

My TC Max (2019) has recently developed a weird jumpy throttle. It's done about 10,000km and just in the last few days it works normally, but somewhere about 50% throttle it'll drop all power (or sometimes most but not all?), if I roll on more power it mostly comes back with a jolt but occasionally I have to back it off to 0 throttle and then on again. It's still ridable, but makes it a lot less smooth and controllable. Before I spend ages tearing apart the bike I was wondering if anyone had experienced this and if it's likely to be a bad connection somewhere, or a sign of a failing component? I'm on all original kit, battery, controller, motor, connectors etc.

Thanks,
Dave

@moose Maybe try to replace the throttle body? The original unit is not heavy-duty construction so perhaps the variable contact slider inside might be worn out on your bike. It is not too expensive (if delivery is free in your country) so maybe worth the effort to find out this way. Might still be cheaper than sending your bike to be fixed at the dealer, if you know how to replace it yourself... but of course proceed at your own risk.

Link below (make sure you select the correct item - the prices are different):

yep happy to do it myself. That is cheap enough that it's worth a go even if it turns out to be unrelated - if tearing the bike down to check all connectors anyway it seems the ideal time to swap.

Thanks 🙂

@moose Cool, chime back in if you can. I would like to know if this has solved your problem (perhaps others might want to know too). Cheers! 👍

@retrosoco just a wee update to say I've got the replacement part now - but also the issue has stopped happening for now. Not sure why - various things have changed e.g. temperature is much lower, it has been dry for a while etc, but I won't try replacing the throttle till the issue recurrs I guess as I'm a bit short on time just now.
