I was watching some pro moto racer on YouTube and he said he would mostly only use the front brake which is the most important one and his back brakes were almost new.

Naturally I was trying to use only my front brake untill I just noticed that this is not my front brake lol the left side brake is for the rear.

Now I try not to brake as much as possible. Using driving modes and just keep rolling goes a long way. Untill now I've used the rear brake only. If I need some extra braking power I would pull the right handle too.

But now I wonder, maybe using both (the right handle) is the best way to go in Standart situations. Main reason would that I won't burn thru the pads as quickly. But on the other side front would get used too.

What do you guys think?

@downwind_lee Does your bike not have CBS braking? In which case your front and rear brake are combined on one brake lever and just front brake only on the other. That’s how the Tc max is set up. How you use brakes is really dependant on the situation but probably wouldn’t be using racing tips as our riding is most likely very different. Using both brakes combined in most normal situations is best, and certainly prevents lots of front end dip which can be annoying after a while.

@lhk oddly enough there is a CBS and a rear braking system on the tsx. No single front braking. I guess because of the low speeds?!

Thats interesting. Seems like yours is set up different to mine. So you have rear brake on one lever and combined front and rear on the other?

Yeah rear brake is left and CBS is right.

My guess is it's to not enable stunt moves and accidents by braking too hard on the front wheel. With 45kmh top the back brake is usually enough to stop the bike.

But with 90+kmh the front brake becomes essential. Because of physics the front has much greater braking power

Are you sure about the braking setup as from your video your bike looks to have the same brakes as on my TC and that is setup as per LHK's TC Max, the left brake lever does front and rear brakes and the right does front only.

I have confirmed this by raising the rear of the bike on a stand and running the motor and trying both levers, the left lever slows the motor/wheel down and the right lever doesnt.

@electrochris

This is based on my user manual.

I'm not 100% sure

Today I crashed my brand new tsx by using CBS on wet leafes in an emergency brake test. Maybe I pulled the brake too hard? I have the feeling it wouldn't have happened with rear brake only.

Take a look:

I don't like the cbs brake, it's very fearful in some situations, especially if the bike is leaning or turning, remembering that we're talking about a 70kg vehicle.
