Hi everyone,

I bought a Super Soco TC Max about 2 weeks ago. Riding is fine, but as soon as it reaches about 65 km/h or more, it starts to shake a tiny little bit. As if I was riding on a 'not so 100% flat road'... It's not easy to describe what it feels like, but that's about the best thing to compare it with.
Driving at 70 km/h or more, the bike definitely feels a little bit wobbly, and therefore absolutely not comforting. It makes me unsure about the quality of the bike I must say, and I tend to reduce the speed immediately at that point... I would expect it to run quite easily at that speed however.

Anyone experiencing the same thing?

Tnx

I've had mine up to 100km/h and it's been pretty smooth.  The only time I've felt uneasy is when it's a windy day and I've been going over a bridge, but that may be just a standard feeling on any bike on a really windy day...

Thanks for your quick reply!

It seems that your bike is a lot different than mine...!
100 km/h ...??? Woow, mine accelerates till 80 km/h if I'm lucky. When the wind is in my back it might reach 84. Certainly never more than that (and I'm not tall or overweighted imho...).
But speed is not really my concern though, it's that 'vibrating' feeling as soon as it reaches 70 I'm worried about... If it would only ride smoothly around 70/80, as you experience it, I would enjoy (or trust) my bike a lot more!

I've got to get it back to the shop I'm afraid...

@teegee oh something is definitely wrong if ur only getting to 80-84, I think mine gets to 80 just in mode 2.  Generally in mode 3 I get to 95 but the time I got to 100 was going slightly downhill tbh.  I hope you can get this issue sorted out, let us know how you go..

@teegee could be either the front or back (or both) wheels aren’t balanced very well. I found my rear wheel is very out of balance and when rotating the wheel jacked up shakes all over the place. Could be the cause of your shake at higher speeds.
Iv got no wheel weights on either of my wheels so assume about zero effort has been made by super soco to balance them in any way from the factory.

Thanks for sharing your opinion!

Wheels not well balanced... That was exactly what I thought when I first felt what it does at higher speed...! And even more, that is exactly what I told the shop owner, when I brought the bike back for its first 500km check up... But they clearly didn't do any balancing of the wheels... :((

I might check on the weights too, but I guess I won't see those either.

Is that a difficult or time-consuming thing to do on a bike, you think? Why didn't they simply do that...?

The first service seems to be nothing more than checking for loose bolts. Unfortunately I’d be very surprised if they balanced wheels for you. To do it the ideal way the wheels need to come off and placed in a wheel balancing machine and spun up just like they do car wheels.
You can statically balance them up to a point which you could do with the front fairly easily without removal but to do the rear you’d need to slip off the belt so the wheel can free rotate.

Worth checking to see if you have any weights but reckon I know the answer to that already. Seems like a step supersoco decided to skip for money saving, that’s all!

Seems the mostly likely cause of your problem as I mentioned my rear wheel balance is all over the place!

Hello again,

Just got back from the shop. Today I insisted to ride the bike at higher speed and experience my issue for themselves. So they did, and they found out that there is a problem indeed! Apperently it is the rear wheel which is causing the small 'vibration' I feel, because it seems to be slightly 'off axis'. Which could, as far as my bike-knowledge goes, perfectly cause the problem in my opinion too. Or at least, the explanation makes sense to me.

They ordered a new wheel (couldn't be corrected at the workplace there), and so they will put on a new one. I really hope that is going to make a big difference...

I hope that, as a bonus, the 'old' wheel has been hampering the bike from going a little bit faster as well, and that my top speed will increase a bit with a better rear wheel, so it reaches at least 85 km/h more easily.

The repair might take a little while, depending on the stock-availability in my region. But I'll keep you posted on this later on!
Hoping for the best...

Tnx again guys,

TG

Good to hear you’ve got a path to resolution.

As others have said you should be getting more out of it.

I’ve got the 2019 version (so older ECU) and I get a fairly consistent 88kph top speed and up to 96kph if the road is slightly down hill.

I’d assume the 2020 ecu would be a bit better but I’ve no evidence to back that up.
