I am trying to find a replacement battery for my Soco, but having communication difficulties atm - can anyone recommend a source? (not looking to get the vmoto battery, its way over priced for the capacity)

(been searching AliExpress)

So far the 3 batteries i hoped would work, are being sold by companies with staff who are unable to answer basic questions, and i suspect, from their answers, that their translation software is doing a bad job - the batteries are probably perfect, but without access to their BMS data, or even knowing the specific cells & manufacturers, I can't really justify the cost of what could end up a doorstop lol

i am not looking for cells, but a complete battery, 40Ah or more, with a known BMS (so i can rig up battery monitor), and with decent cells

Check out andy kirby's youtube channel. Maybe you'd like to learn to make your own pack. Still a big pack from China would be a pity as shipping rules for these kind of batteriers are kind of hard nowadays. I would be worried if it got "customs blocked" or something whilst in transit apart from tull and customs you have to pay 25% added to the price apart as well from shipping costs.

Samsung 50E 21700 size/volume best type cells 528£ 136 pieces (17x8 / 17s8p) 71,4v fully charged 40ah.

LG MJ1 best longevity cells  503£ 204 pieces (17x12 / 17s12p) 71,4 fully charged 40ah

info from nkon

This is cells price only. Extra for tools, connectors and more. And time of course. I would estimate at least 20 hours. The more hours you put the more quality you get, the same with the tools, the better the faster you can work.

If you only have the replacement battery connected to your Super soco you will lose % graph of the current charge level. It will blink and show 0% soc. I have for your information sold my original battery and are currently using a own made.

I would also not risk buying from aliexpress... it's expensive and if it gets stuck in some customs, then you may loose also your money.

Building your own battery... yes it's an option, but you may end-up in paying almost the same price.

Here is the original BMS:  https://www.outdoordreams.eu/BMS-50A-mit-Bluetooth-Super-Soco-TS-TC.html

I found the battery here, it's about 300 E cheaper than the price from my local dealer, but they deliver only to some countries (to Romania where I live, they don't deliver):

In essence. 1) Buying a original finished battery is a perfect choice. A used battery is the second best as long as you try it first and you se that it working as it should. 2) Lose all warranties and buy a China copy battery for about half the price + taxes ad shipping costs. 3) Build your own battery which cost time and almost the same amount of money.

Here's a guy building a pretty big battery. It's expensive and the tools costs weren't even included:

Warranty doesnt concern me, its up in 6 months any way, and there is nothing on the bike i can't fix myself (part of my previous job was designing & building high voltage electronic devices, im very comfortable with electronics and embedded systems)

i have found 40-60ah batteries for 400-600£, it will cost me approx £120 in tax/duty (for industrial battery)

the £900/€900 charged for the soco battery is excessive imo, especially at half the capacity (that will be the cost of the 3 year warranty, which is a nice feature ofc, but the capacity i i want will cost me nearly the same as the bike lol)

i don't really want to build a battery, simply for the time involved, but it is the option i will have to take if I can't find a company in China with a good English speaking front end

thanks for the links of original soco BMS, that is helpful
