That's not the same. Lower specs. Original is carbon drive.

@jim0 until it snaps on a duel carriage way and leaves you stranded. Some things are just not worth going cheap on. Use as short term backup not a replacement.

@lhk Turns out it lasted 11 months which was about 6000 miles until it snapped so not bad for £45 and can be ordered and delivered within a week  where as the original seems to be £160 and take 2-3 months for shipping to UK and that one shredded some teeth after a lot less mileage before snapping itself, so i'd say buy this one but replace it every 6 months or 3000 miles.

@jim0

id say there’s something wrong with your alignment. I’m on original belt at 10000 miles without any real sign of deterioration, and I’m running at almost double the stock power. You shouldn’t be shreading teeth that easily.

@lhk Oh wow, perhaps you are right. I bought the bike second hand with 2k on it and now am at almost 10k. Perhaps the previous owner replaced the stock belt with a cheaper one before me, not sure but the original on there doesn't look any better than the cheap ones i am buying. Any tips on setting alignment? Do you just seat the wheel back to exactly equal markings left and right or do you favour tension on the right to reduce chance of belt slipping off the cog? Seems to be no info on the net about this and my local dealer is useless and has no experience with fixing these bikes. I have set tension correctly using gates carbon drive app. Any tips on correct alignment would be much appreciated. Also how did you double the power? Battery and controller upgrade? Or gear ratio? cheers

@jim0 @manos_ir

So my motor was never aligned in the first place. Grab a long straight edge and run it along your front pulley pressed against it and so how straight it aligns with your rear pulley. Adjustment of my rear wheel would never move enough to straighten it. Ended up having to grid the motor mounts and shim it to get it straight and now it runs smooth and very quiet. It’s worth checking the wear on your rear pulley on the vertical barrier next to the teeth, mine was very worn before the alignment so I replaced the pulley.

yeah I upgraded the battery and motor controller, but also installed bigger gauge power cables to handle the extra current, it’s a great little bike with the extra acceleration.

can someone explain the specs to me so I can evaluate buying the belt form an online retailer?  length, width, how many teeth, etc.  or the gates part number?  thanks!  is it 1760 long, 12mm wide and 8 pitch?  long for gates that would be 8MGT-1760-12?
