Hi
I'm very interested in getting a TC max and was wondering if anybody can help answer some questions:
1) I live half way up the side of a hill, what is the performance like on a steepish hill ie 12%?, a lot of my riding would be on hilly roads.
2)How do they perform two up?
3)Has anybody hada rack fitted?
Hello,
ad. 1 - Speed/acceleration is mostly connected with your weight. So on hills. Mostly - up to manual - it will climb 12% hills. How brave? :-)) again - it is up to your weight. I am 2 meters tall and compared speed results with 73 kg medium tall rider. Weight matters for TC max engine for top speed and hills.
ad. 2 - Seat is not long and formal capacity is 150 kg total. I would rather bet on solo ride unless you are small/medium tall couple.
ad. 3 - Standard one from TC can be mounted on TCmax but it gets in a collision with any registration plate which is higher then metal plate to screw it to. I had to return it and in future - I will ask someone to make a custom one for me - higher.
I hope it helps a bit.
Peter
Yes, just to augment Peters comments:
1.) On a fairly average hill you will go down to 35/40MPH if you are ~13St. Steep hills, well, Ive not tested yet. I dont really use the bike for anything but my 40/50MPH limit 25 mile (each way) work commute, as it cant handle anywhere near 60MPH on a regular commute... Maybe if the wind is in the right direction and the roads are fairly flat it will gradually get there. My work route is fairly hilly and I can generally average 45 to 50 MPH depending on the wind pressure.
After riding the Max for around 1000 miles now, it seems like the torque/power 'runs out' of any significant use at about 35/40MPH, hence it can hold this speed up average hills.
Any higher speeds after that will be because of: 1. Lack of low (or is it high?) wind pressure (whichever one it is that is noisier! lol) 2. Downhill inclination.
I would say, to explain better, if you can imagine your petrol car/motorcycle revving past its peak power. This seems to be whats happening with the electric motor, which is quite understandable seeing as its only one gear and it winds up to a very fast spin.
2.) Dont bother, unless you are both 6 Stone. Otherwise it would just be painful. Think of an unwell Honda Express 50cc and you get the picture...and thats if the passenger doesnt fall off the short back of the seat and 'road rash' their genitals on the spinning back tyre.
3.) Again, unless you intend to carry a celery stick in a paper bag for your lunch in a thin bamboo topbox, I wouldnt bother, as adding extra weight will only make things slower.
Anyway, hope this helps.
If you can get a TC-max then I envy you!
The only rule I give you is. 1: Drive safe, and keep minimum 1-3 seconds distance from all cars and others at ahead of you.
Tc- max takes hills easy. The power is about as a 125cc motorcycle. but max speed about 100km/h.
